Solway Coast - Sunday 8th October 2006

The Solway Coast rally is traditionally held on the military ranges but this year there were access problems and the organisers were forced to move the event.  The new format was using a private forest near Dalry with stages that have never been rallied on.

The rally consisted of five stages with minimal road miles as everything was based within the forest complex.

The first stage was in excellent condition and the team were going well.  It was a bit different to a Scottish Championship forest event as there were no route notes available. This meant that Gordon had to drive the road as he saw it and had no prior warning of the corners. Everything was going well untill about two miles from the end of the stage when the car wouldn't drive out of a tight corner. The driveshaft had sheared and there was nothing that could be done to fix it.
